Parcel services are more important than ever in times of corona and lockdowns. They deliver over 13 million shipments daily, including groceries, medicines and other everyday goods, to private and commercial recipients all over Germany. Transfer points for these supply chains are hubs and depots. Here, many CEP service providers use wider sorters and conveyor belts to handle the high volume of parcels. This calls for high-performance technology in shipment capturing. Or in other words: for VICAM 3S.
The VICAM 3S line-scan camera generates high-resolution images of parcels, large envelopes or polybags as they pass through. The integrated evaluation unit reliably detects barcodes, 2D codes and optionally even plain text (OCR). Even corrupted or poor-quality codes can be read. The captured data is transmitted and archived in real-time to connected Enterprise Resource Planning Systems. There, the data can be precisely evaluated and used for process optimization, for example, to improve internal commodity flows.
VICAM 3S is the intelligent main component in VIPAC IN-MOTION systems to capture shipments automatically. The line-scan camera comes as an 8K or 16K variant. The 16K variant offers the highest resolution on the market and reads at the highest line scan frequency of over 50 kHz. The higher resolution enables the reading of smaller codes, better OCR performance and, by using different focal lengths, a wider field of view. With this, even wider sorters of up to 1.60 meters and even larger objects are now covered – at conveyor speeds of up to 4.5 m/s.
VITRONIC is the world's leading innovation driver for industrial image processing, enabling its customers to master the challenges of tomorrow.
The owner-managed group of companies develops forward-looking solutions in the form of specialized products and software for image-based quality inspection, identification and process optimization, which find application in the growth sectors of automation and traffic engineering.
VITRONIC solutions make an important contribution to helping shape a safe and sustainable world. The existing limits of what is economically feasible are constantly being questioned in order to achieve the highest quality and productivity, for example in the production of automotive and pharmaceutical companies. Worldwide, Auto-ID solutions in logistics centers and at cargo airports, take over the reliable and efficient recording of shipments and thus ensure a transparent flow of goods.
In the transport sector, VITRONIC offers leading technology for increased safety on the roads, for optimizing traffic flow and for recording road usage.
