Wiesbaden-based technology company continues its sustainable commitment.
"When we heard about the "Waldliebe" project, we knew immediately that we had to support this
The company manager is aware of the increasing forest dieback: What was green and lively just a few years ago - so inviting for people to take a walk in the woods - is now largely nothing but brown and dead trees in the forests due to the increasingly severe drought and bark beetle infestation.
The globally active technology company VITRONIC, headquartered in Wiesbaden, Germany, has paid special attention to the local Taunusstein Forest, in line with its philosophy: "Pushing the boundaries of the feasible – to shape a safe and sustainable world."
"With the Taunusstein reforestation project 'Waldliebe', we have found the perfect partner with whom we could achieve a great goal: to plant a tree for each of our 1,300 employees," Daniel Scholz-Stein enthuses.
"Together with our first tree planting campaign in 2021, this brings the total to 1,500 seedlings, which will take root in Taunusstein in many more planting campaigns." VITRONICers from other Group companies in Germany, the USA, United Arab Emirates, France, Malaysia, China, Poland and Australia are also supporting and donating an additional tree for each employee.
Thus, a new native mixed forest is being created on approx. 6 hectares of former forest land, which, roughly calculated, binds approx. 36 tons of CO2 per year when fully grown. By way of comparison, each German citizen currently emits around 11 tons of CO2 per year - this means that 3.3 people would be CO2-neutral as a result of this piece of forest.
However, sustainability never stops and means much more than planting trees only once. Enno Uhde, one of the initiators of 'Waldliebe', explains what makes the reforestation project so unique: "From the very beginning, we wanted a holistic concept for the reforestation of the Taunusstein forest. This includes sustainable seedling protection made of wood, irrigation with rainwater stored in a cistern and a solar well pump and the regular monitoring of the newly planted, tender seedlings. Ultimately, this holistic thinking pays dividends for generations to come."
This is what inspires the CEO and father of two, Daniel Scholz Stein, because VITRONIC is not just about simple, technical optimizations, but about holistic changes - always with the goal of a sustainable and meaningful solution - for future generations.
On the new Forest Love educational sign sponsored by VITRONIC, visitors can discover the mission and vision of the project directly at the site and the species of tree that are being planted. For those who would like to learn more about the large tree planting campaign, click here.
