VIRO WSM monitors laser welding processes in real time, directly at the welding station. Anomalies and potential quality defects are detected and flagged immediately, not just at subsequent visual inspection. Fewer rejects are produced and production must be interrupted less frequently to find and eliminate the causes of defects.
The inspection system detects particles in and on battery modules. Camera sensors inspect the sides of individual battery cells as well as the bottom of the entire module. Critical particles must be removed before final assembly, according to the industry standard for technical cleanliness; otherwise they can affect the performance and safety of the battery and other systems.
The inspection system scans electrode and separator foils directly in the production line before they are stacked for the battery cell. It detects particles in the low micrometer range that can later trigger short circuits and even battery fires. In addition, other defects can be detected, such as position deviations, edge and cut defects or altered surface characteristics.
